concrete kiss

|

blow a concrete kiss
I'll miss the Glasgow sunset
and while I reminisce
I'm stifled by my own silence
~~~~~~
Show me where to go
where all the lost folks find home
fighting feeling hollow
oh, remind me who I was before
~~~~~~
Tell me what you think makes you a man
~~~~~~
Don't want to be
told who I am according to some notion
close my eyes and I can see
a world where we can express emotion
~~~~~~
Tell me what you think makes you a man

forfeiting defences
07:48
|
|||
I'll forfeit my defences
un-picket all my fences
here I am, or so I think?
Until the next drink
I start again
~~~~~~~
I'm burning up inside
got no place left to hide
Is this how it feels to feel something real?
something dangerous...
that time u left
I'm sitting here thinking about how you came and went inside me
how I let your thought define me
I'm trying
to grow, become my own person that I believe in
But, still you come and go
just one looked then I am reeled back in
~~~~~~~
I'm sitting here moments after you left me prematurely,
you left me feeling empty, who am I?
I thought I made it clear, I didn't need more than what we had
to share, to show I care,
I don't play games - that's just a drag
~~~~~~
can I have all of you and none of you?
and everyone else?
was it something I said?
'cause then you left
and I'm sitting here all by myself
~~~~~~
I'm sitting here wondering if I'll make it past the point of breaking
if I'll ever stop thinking of your icy eyes
I'm bored of my own thoughts that keep recurring
a turntable's spinning in your room
you had me fooled
~~~~~~
can I have all of you and none of you?
and everyone else?
was it something I said?
'cause then you left
and I'm sitting here all by myself
to-do list
|
Turn up to work on time,
smile at the customers,
pay your council tax,
go out with your friends,
support their art,
check out that gig,
see that show everyone’s talking about,
Text back ‘love u miss u x’,
get enough sleep,
go to yoga,
arrange the redelivery on the parcel you missed,
eat healthy,
drink less caffeine,
ring your mum,
smile at the customers,
have great sex,
get a haircut,
floss after brushing,
pee after fucking,
swig gaviscon after mealtimes, go to the theatre,
keep up with culture,
turn up to show face,
right place,
right time,
laugh at the right jokes,
speak to the right people,
be more witty,
wear a face covering on the tube,
send a sexy nude,
read more books,
Take out your recycling,
Pray to the god that you’re never sure existed,
Turn a blind eye to the symptoms of injustice,
show up for your community, March March March,
suddenly its October and I still don’t know what the fuck I’m doing.
